In Vitro Fertilization

🧬 IVF Process Overview

  1. Ovarian Stimulation Hormonal medications are given to stimulate the ovaries to produce multiple eggs instead of the usual one per cycle.

  2. Egg Retrieval Once the eggs are mature, they are collected from the ovaries using a minor surgical procedure guided by ultrasound.

  3. Fertilization in the Lab The retrieved eggs are combined with sperm in a lab dish. If fertilization occurs, embryos begin to develop.

  4. Embryo Culture and Selection Embryos are monitored for several days. The healthiest ones are selected for transfer.

  5. Embryo Transfer One or more embryos are placed into the uterus. If successful, implantation occurs and pregnancy begins.

  6. Pregnancy Test About 10–14 days after transfer, a blood test confirms whether implantation was successful.
